FST Services

Family Stabilization Teams

An FST team is made up of a Master's level therapist trained in family therapy and a Bachelor's level case manager working under the supervision of a LICSW and the umbrella of the CSI/CSH clinics.

CSI offers teams with Spanish language capability and emergency response capacity.

When to Make an FST Referral

FST is a level of care designed to be short-term and very intensive.  It is a Medicaid service designed to:

Transition children and teens from residential or inpatient

       Prevent placement or child removal

Keep children and teens in school

       Stabilize and strengthen families

FST
is best applied when the crisis is happening or when it's sure to happen after transitions between levels of care.

FST Services

FST begins with a CANS assessment.  Families are approached as partners in solving a crisis.  The foundation of FST is the family meetings scheduled at least twice weekly.  Support services can be deployed to the family at home, in school, or in the community including:

       Behavior management
       Parenting
       Case management and Service Connection
       Recreational exploration
       Educational Advocacy
       Household management

The goal of all FST services is to re-stabilize a family and create the sustainable supports needed in the community to prevent the crisis from reoccurring.

CSI offers child psychiatric back-up within 24 hours on all FST cases.  24-hour phone and in-person crisis management is available, as appropriate.
